WELCOME
As teacher-writer-pilgrim, I'd like to share some of the fruits of my journey to inform, delight, and encourage you in yours. I offer poetry readings, retreats and workshops on writers of art and spirit such as Mary Oliver and Thoreau and on topics which range from El Dia de los Muertos to Observing Sabbath and aspects of Contemplative Ecology. I offer labyrinth retreats and workshops exploring the Doctrine of Discovery, as well as the writing of memoir. And I offer my books! My background includes 31 years as professor of humanities at Eckerd College, leadership in eco-justice with the Presbyterian Church USA, and certification as a group and retreat leader with the Shalem Society for Spiritual Formation. I'm a published poet, essayist, and photographer. If I keep a green bough in my heart the singing bird will come. -Chinese saying /books.html |
NEW IN 2019 & 2020 A GREEN BOUGH: POEMS FOR RENEWAL & reprint with Discussion Guides of MARTHA, MARY & JESUS
A GREEN BOUGH could be called a book of "ecopoetics." For me, this means that my poetic quest is to hold in tension the opposites of a celebration of the natural world and, in a time of great destruction, a call for its repair. In this work I intend to evoke a saving love for the bodymindspirit of this amazing planet that is our home.
